Doctor of Philosophy, UPV/EHU (1994). Director of the master's degree in Philosophy, Science and Values (2008-2016), the PhD Programme in Philosophy, Science, Technology and Society (1998-2008) and the the PhD Programme in Philosophy, Science and Values (2008-present). Coordinator of the Miguel Sánchez-Mazas Chair, a chair devoted to Science, Technology and Innovation Studies; Principal Investigator of the PRAXIS research group (level A group of the Basque university system); and Editor in Chief of THEORIA. An International Journal of Theory, History and Foundations of Science. He was vice dean of the Faculty of Philosophy and Education Sciences (1998-2004).
Fields of work: Philosophy of Science and Technology, and Studies of Science and Technology. He has directed more than 20 research projects and more than 25 doctoral theses in those fields. He has also published numerous articles and books in his areas of specialization: representation in science, technology and art; knowledge networks; validation and assessment of science; science, society and risk; governance and responsible innovation; science communication.
