María de Ponte is an assistant professor of Logic and Philosophy of Science and researcher at the Institute for Logic, Cognition, Language and Information (ILCLI). She obtained her BA in philosophy at the University of La Laguna, her MA in philosophy at the University College London and her PhD in Philosophy at the University of La Laguna. She was a Fulbright postdoctoral researcher at Brown University (2006-2007) and a Juan de la Cierva Postdoctoral researcher at ILCLI, UPV/EHU (2009-2011). She has been an assistant professor (2012-2017) and associate professor (2017-2018) at the University of Seville.



She works mostly in philosophy of language, philosophy of logic and philosophy of mathematics, with special interest in the philosophy of time and issues of reference. She has co-authored 4 books and about 25 papers, in English and Spanish, in several collections and journals such as Journal of Pragmatics, Topoi, Notre Dame Philosophical Reviews, Research and Language, and Logique et Analyse. Recently, she has edited with Kepa Korta Reference and Representation in Thought and Language (Oxford University Press, 2017).



She is currently co-supervising two PhD theses and she is working as a researcher in the research group on Language, Action, and Thought (category A of the Basque Government).
