Xabier Lopez (Donostia, 1968) received a degree in Quantum Chemistry by Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (1991), and defended his Ph.D. (1996, extraordinary prize) at the UPV/EHU (supervisor: Jesus M. Ugalde), with research stays at Dalhousie University (Canada) and Iowa State University (USA). In his thesis, he worked in several quantum chemistry projects. Afterwards, he started a 4-year postdoctoral stay with Prof. Martin Karplus (Nobel Laureate of Chemistry 2013), at the Université Louis Pasteur (Strasbourg) and Oxford University, obtaining an “European Marie-Curie” grant, and specializing in biophysical methods. In 2000, Xabier Lopez joined the Chemistry Faculty (Donostia) as associate professor, obtaining in 2007 the permanent position (Profesor Titular de Química Física). During this period, he has lectured different physical chemistry subjects in degree/master level, being the coordinator of the Master and Doctorate program of “Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modeling”. He has displayed a wide research activity, supervising Doctoral, Master and Final Grade Thesis. He has published 139 papers in high-impact journals (h-index of 31, ResearcherID: G-5690-2015, ORCID: 0000-0002-2711-3588), participated in various research projects from Spanish MINECO (three as PI), Basque Government, and European Union, and has given several invited lectures/oral communications in various international conferences.
