Assessment systems

Control of this activity corresponds to the student's director/tutor, who certifies the realization of the said activity before the Academic Committee of the Program. This and other activities are included in the personalized activity document stipulated in article 9 - personalized activity document - of the doctoral regulations of the UPV/EHU. In general, the monitoring and evaluation of the activities will be governed by the provisions of articles 9, 10, 11 and 12 of the above-mentioned management regulations. To enable the director to evaluate this activity, the student will submit, at the end of each academic year, a report including the fundamental aspects covered at the conferences/seminars he or she has attended during the year. The director will monitor the number of seminars he or she has taken part in and evaluate the benefit obtained by the contents of the report, giving particular value to critical analysis.

Assessment systems

In-situ control of attendance by the school program. In addition, this activity, if it is performed, is recorded in the personal activity document stipulated in article 9 of the doctoral management regulations, as is indicated for the activities of the seminars/conferences. This activity will be regarded as positively evaluated by means of the submitting of the attendance certificate issued by the organizers, together with a report on the activities performed (techniques studied and centres visited) and their applicability to the research project conducted by the student.

Assessment systems

The activity is controlled by the head of the research group which hosts the student and also by the report written by the student at the end of the stay. In any case, stays at other centres form part of the personal activities which are included in the corresponding document (article 9 of the doctoral regulations of the UPV/EHU). Their control and evaluation are regulated by articles 9, 10, 11 and 12 of the above regulations. The Academic Committee evaluates the activities included in the personal activity document each year. In order to evaluate this activity, the student will submit a report on the activities performed during the stay to his or her director. He or she will indicate the aspects which have represented progress in the research or which, in general, have contributed to the realization of the doctoral thesis project. The director may request the person responsible for the host centre to provide a report on the student's stay at the centre. The report may be replaced by a seminar given by the student presenting those aspects which, during the stay, have represented a breakthrough in the realization of the doctoral thesis.

Mastering of techniques in the speciality.

Assessment systems

In-situ control of attendance by the school organization; activity certificate issued by the organizers. The proposal and control of this activity corresponds to the director/tutor. In addition, this activity, if it is performed, is recorded in the personal activity document stipulated in article 9 of the doctoral management regulations, as is indicated for the activities of the seminars/conferences. The evaluation of this activity will require the attendance certificate issued by the organizers. Similarly, the student will submit a summary report on the academic content of the school, focusing on those aspects that the student regards as most relevant within the context of his or her overall training.

Description

Writing a scientific article arising from the work on their thesis, to be sent to a prestigious international journal, so publicising the work and gaining confirmation of its quality. It is an activity especially recommended for final-year students.

Results

Learning to write a clear description of a piece of academic work, adequately synthesising the whole work in an article of standard length. Learning to write scientific conclusions. Extending their knowledge of their research area, as they have to deal with relevant bibliography in the field.

Assessment systems

Supervision of this activity is the role of the student's supervisor/tutor, who certifies to the Academic Committee of the Programme that the activity has been carried out. This and other activities are shown in the personalised document on activities provided for in art. 9 of the UPV/EHU doctorate rules, concerning the personalised document on activities. In general, supervision and assessment of the activities will be governed by the provisions of articles 9, 10, 11 and 12 of the above-mentioned administrative rules. For the supervisor/tutor to assess this activity at the end of the academic year, they will take into account the quality of the article written and the student's participation in it, as an article is normally the result of group work.
