Results

The doctoral student will acquire the necessary tools to access, evaluate, use and disseminate information in an ethical manner.

Assessment systems

It is an on-site seminar, and therefore attendance is compulsory and will be monitored by means of signatures for each of the modules. At the end of the activity the tutor will be given a report allowing an assessment of the acquisition of the skills associated with this activity.

Description

The activity will involve presenting the work done by students to the scientific community. Priority will be given to presentations being made in the form of lectures and students shall develop this themselves

Results

Students¿ knowledge of the scientific activity conducted by other researchers in the field of Materials, and the opinion on the work done by our students is considered essential for the training of our doctoral students.

Assessment systems

Attendance to the activity will be mandatory and includes control based on the opinion of the scientific community to whom our students have presented their work. In addition, students will be required to make a report on two presentations or communications, previously selected by the director of the thesis, directly related to the topic of their thesis.

Description

Technicians responsible for each of the techniques will explain them in detail, including what information can be obtained therefrom and indications for its use. Students will be involved directly, whenever possible, in its use.

Results

Knowledge of the techniques and possibilities will allow students to design experiences that could improve their doctoral thesis.

Assessment systems

Control will take place based on the assessment made by the supervisor of each technique.

Description

Five seminars of 10 hours each, taught by specialists, both national and foreign, on subjects directly related to the lines of research of the doctoral programme. This activity will take place throughout the academic year, at least in the first two years of the doctoral studies. The seminars will be held throughout the academic year, each in two or three consecutive days, depending on the availability of the invited specialist, something that will also somewhat constrain the specific dates on which they will be held. Either way, we will ensures that they are spaced at regular intervals throughout the academic year. This activity will be mandatory for both full-time and part-time students.

Results

This activity is intended for doctoral students so that they have the broadest possible vision about the status of the lines of research in the field of Materials directly related to the research lines of the Doctoral Programme.

Assessment systems

To control the activity each student must give their tutor a critical report on each seminar. Certain seminars could include oral sessions in which each student or groups of students should discuss the topic in question.

Character

Hours

Description

Mobility stays in national or foreign centres, belonging to another university or in research institutions with renowned prestige. For full-time students this stay shall have a duration of at least of three months in a foreign research centre, which will allow them, among other things, to obtain an international doctorate with the quality guarantees that this entails. As for part-time students, for those who cannot do the above, shorter stays (never less than one month) will be sought to be made at foreign or national centres. This possibility will be extended to full-time students who cannot make stays with the characteristics indicated, as the case may be. Each student, guided by their tutor and director, will select and decide the host centre for their research stay and the most appropriate time to carry it out. Together with the host group, the goals pursued will be defined and set out, and a working plan will also be established.

Results

Proving the ability to integrate and work in other groups. Exchanging knowledge and research results. Acquiring knowledge about the use of novel research techniques on the line in which the thesis falls into.

Assessment systems

A report of the activities conducted and a certificate issued by the supervisor of the group where students have stayed shall be presented.
