Introduction to Official Masters' Courses

The University of the Basque Country - Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, through its faculties, departments and institutes, offers a range of 102 official university masters' degrees in the academic year 2013/2014.

Since the academic year 2006/2007, university masters' courses are the first result of the new format of university studies within the framework of the European Higher Education Area. They are aimed at giving students a more advanced, specialised or multi-disciplinary training. Among the professional spheres at which they are aimed is that of research.

You are recommended to begin by looking at the range on offer, to gain an overview of it. On the basis of this, you can concentrate on the university master's programme you are interested in to find further information, including - among other things - the courses, the qualifications required for admission to it and, very importantly, "information about the university master's programme". It should not be forgotten that there are university master's courses that provide a route into doctoral programmes with a mark of quality and students enrolled for these courses have the possibility of applying for grants awarded by the ministry because they are enrolled on them.

Once you have decided which master's programme or programmes you are interested in, you should find out about the application and admission process. You can find this information in the University Master's Programme.

The regulations also include all the information necessary to take any other steps required, such as recognition of qualifications, etc.

Other useful addresses include those of the Basque Government, the Ministry and the UPV/EHU, where rounds of applications for grants or assistance for which doctoral students can apply are announced.
