USAC: University Studies Abroad Consortium

First of all, I would like to show my gratitude to all levels at Elcano section of the Faculty of Business and Economics for having given us a place in this community of which we already feel part of. In these years of sharing location and experiences, more than a thousand American students have passed through its classrooms and have shared space and time with many other students of the center. And this has been possible thanks to the spirit of collaboration and integration that is constantly breathed here.

USAC is a non-profit organization that takes the form of a University Consortium since its birth in 1982, within the Center for Basque Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno, USAC has sent to the Basque Country more than 12,000 students (9,500 from the United States and another 2,500 from 34 different nationalities).

The agreement that regulates the relationship between the two institutions allows a large number of professors and students of the UPV-EHU to visit the American Universities that are part of the consortium (35 Universities spread throughout the territory of the United States and another 38 Universities belonging to 25 other countries) promoting the academic, research and human relationship of our countries. From 1982 to the present, the size and presence of the organization has grown very substantially, but its mission and its own culture of doing things have remained unchanged, seeking to encourage mutual knowledge between students in a university context.

USAC Bilbao program offers North American students the possibility of learning the Spanish language and taking subjects related to Business Studies. Therefore, having our headquarters in this Center stimulates the achievement of one of our fundamental objectives: the academic, cultural and human exchange between students who have common interests and who can learn a lot from each other.  With that objective, you can count on us to carry out activities that can favor the spirit of learning between students of the Faculty and USAC students and we invite you to get to know us in any case.

Many thanks again to all the members of the Elcano community.

Resident Director for the Bilbao/Getxo program.
