Abbreviated CV

I am a Full Professor at the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU. My research activity began in 1997 (with the start of my Doctoral Thesis, defended in 2001 and awarded the Extraordinary Doctorate Prize in 2003). My teaching activity began in 2002 with a part-time interim teaching position.

My research work has been directed to the development of catalytic processes focused on environmental protection and clean energy production (removal of pollutants in gaseous effluents (VOCs, NOx, soot, CH4), chemical recycling of PET waste, and production of H2 and syngas by reforming natural gas, gasoline, diesel and biogas). I have participated as Collaborative Researcher in 20 Research Projects and I have been Principal Investigator in 7 different Research Projects (>1.4 M€). I am co-author of 105 indexed publications (h-factor=43; >5000 citations) and 15 non-indexed publications. I have been recognised in the prestigious Ranking of the World Scientists: World's Top 2% Scientists (Stanford University). I am co-inventor of a patent and have co-directed nine PhD Theses (three of them awarded with the Extraordinary PhD Prize and the Spanish Catalysis Society Prize). I am currently co-directing two doctoral theses. I am a project evaluator for the Agencia Estatal de Investigación (AEI) and the Agencia Valenciana D'Avaluacio I Prospectiva (AVAP).

I have participated in numerous national and international conferences in the field of Chemical Engineering and Applied Catalysis, with more than 250 contributions. I am a member of the Governing Board of the Spanish Catalysis Society (SECAT). I have acted as member of the Organizing Committee of the Spanish Catalysis Society Meeting (2007) and of the XXIX Iberoamerican Congress of Catalysis (2024).

In the field of management I have been Academic Secretary of the Department (since 2017) and, within the Degree in IQ, I have been Coordinator of the Tutorial Action Plan (4 years), Coordinator of Academic Exchange (5 years) and Coordinator of the Degree (2 years). I participate as a lecturer in the UPV/EHU Degree ‘Specialist in Environment and Sustainability’.
