He received a grant from the Ministry of Education and Science (2007-2011) and started his research work in the TQSA (Chemical Technologies for Environmental Sustainability) research group in the Department of Chemical Engineering of the UPV/EHU. He did a research stay in the Centre for the Theory and Application of Catalysis (CenTACat) of Queen´s University of Belfast. International PhD in Chemical Engineering (UPV/EHU, 2012) awarded with Extraordinary Doctorate Prize and the award of the best PhD thesis of the Spanish Catalysis Society.

His research is focused on developing catalytic strategies to mitigate NOx emissions mainly by NOx storage and reduction (NSR) and Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR). Implements experimental work with modeling and simulation in order to optimize the operational conditions to run efficiently those catalytic devices under real application in the automobile exhaust. He is co-author of 29 research articles indexed in the JCR.

Part time Temporary Lecturer from 2012 and full time Lecturer from 2013 with main teaching subjects being Kinetics of Chemical Processes, Energy Engineering and Numerical Methods for Chemical Engineers of the Chemical Engineering degree of the UPV/EHU.
