AimsToggle Navigation

The student understands and can explain the mission of the operational level within the architecture of an information system based on processor.

The student is able to analyze the structure and functions of the operating level, identifying the theoretical concepts involved that level (processes, management E / S, memory management, file management, communications management).

The student is able to explain and argue the differences between different scheduling algorithms of processes, and knows justify the selection of one or another algorithm depending on the boundary conditions.

The student is able to explain and argue the differences between different memory management algorithms, and knows justify the selection of one or another algorithm depending on the boundary conditions.

The student to understand the structure of a file system and treatment of input / output and the elements that comprise it, and is able to critically reason the opportunity to choose a given to support different aspects of the implementation of files and directories algorithms.

The student dominate security concepts in information systems as cryptography, perimeter security, virus / antivirus and security legislation.

The student should be able to build application software using system calls.

The student is reasonably able to select and use the best synchronization mechanism between processes in a given situation.

MethodologyToggle Navigation

The course consists of lectures and laboratory practice.

The master classes are articulated on the basis of each of the modules and themes listed in section contents.

Laboratory Practices are articulated in the development of communications applications in UNIX environments under C language and using resources and mechanisms provided by the operating system.

Assessment systemsToggle Navigation

I- The course follows a mixed evaluation system which consists of a conceptual and a practical part are evaluated independently, obtaining the final grade from both ratings. The weight of each of the parties on the final grade is 50%.

II- The conceptual part will be assessed through two midterms (week 10 - Module 1-Level Operating) and the date of the ordinary call (Module 2-Security).

1. The final note of the conceptual part is obtained from the weighted average (2/3 - 1 1/3 Module - Module 2) of the marks obtained in the examinations.

2. Students shall be deemed not submitted the first set and submitted to the examination on the date of the ordinary call with a score of 0 points in the first set.

3. A minimum is required in the evaluation of the conceptual part, to make half with the practical part, which is 3 points out of 10.

III- The practical part will be assessed through a computer test on the date of the ordinary call.

1. A minimum be required in assessing the practical part, to make half with the conceptual part, which is 3 points out of 10.

2. You can get an EXTRA assessment, in the practical part, up to 20% based on practical work on the subject. This requires justify regular attendance during the course to practical classes. The performance of extra work will be a proposal by students and accepted by the teacher indicating the value assigned to each work activity. carrying out work in groups is allowed, as long as that association is justified, and a maximum of three people. Reports should make clear the contribution of each member.

3. It is possible to obtain a valuation EXTRA up to 10% based on the positive evaluation of student achievement that the teacher can perform over the course.

DISCLAIMER:

If a student wants to decline the ongoing assessment, he/she must proceed according to the procedure and deadlines established in the Article 8.3 of the Student Assessment Rules of the UPV/EHU. In that case the assessment will correspond to 100% of the note.

It will be sufficient to consider that the student has opted for the express waiver of the evaluation of the subject (waiver of the call) that the student is not present on the date of the ordinary call.
