Temary

This course offers an introduction to Linguistics, assuming no prior knowledge of the field. It covers the foundations of language structure: phonology, morphology, syntax and semantics. We will consider and discuss the range of properties found in human languages by tackling problems of linguistic analysis of different types of grammars. A selection of readings will be provided to discuss relevant themes related to language, evolution, its relations to other cognitive domains, the specificity of its computations, as well as its neurobiology.
