Synthetic and Industrial Chemistry
This master's degree has an inter-university nature and the qualification is jointly awarded by the University of Valladolid, the Public University of Navarre and the University of the Basque Country Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea.
It can be argued that Chemistry is the science which has most contributed to present-day well-being. Its developments, currently fully compatible with environmental quality as a result of the advances in the knowledge of its principles and application, invade and protect all the areas of our lives. The main issues of social interest which contribute to guiding the lines of research into chemistry include energy, health, the environment and new materials (including nanotechnology) for their application in catalysis, electronics, etc. There is a whole world dependent on the new developments in chemical synthesis: new drugs (analgesics, antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs and treatments for diabetes, blood pressure and cancer), new adhesives, new semi-conductor materials, new luminescent products for solar cells, new polymers, LEDs, OLEDs, nanoparticles and enantioselectivity... these are words which depict the world around us and are, at the same time, words which shape the world of synthesis.
Learning to build molecules and materials for the required chemical, medical and physical purposes, studying their structures and properties and doing so with powerful, selective, effective and clean procedures are the goals of this master's degree focusing on Synthetic and Industrial Chemistry and those of the doctorates of the three universities which include it in their training.
This qualification is recognised at level 3 in the Spanish Framework of Higher Education Qualifications (MECES) and corresponds to level 7 of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF), according to Royal Decree 22/2015 of 23rd January 2015 (BOE Spanish Official Gazette 07/02/2015).
This is a research-oriented master that can be considered the previous step to doctorate studies
