Management Regulations for University Master’s Degrees

Section I. Issuing of degree certificates

Article 21. General rules.

1.- University Master’s Degree certificates are issued by the Vice Chancellor of the UPV/EHU in standard format, and are recorded in the University Register of Official Qualifications.

During enrolment, the Faculties running the Master's courses are responsible for ensuring compliance with RD822/2021, according to which a Master’s qualification may not be awarded to students who have not completed their Undergraduate studies.

Article 22.- Procedure.

1.- Requests for the issuing of degree certificates may be submitted to the Secretariat of the Faculty running the Master’s course, and must be accompanied by the following documents:

  • Standardised request form.
  • Photocopy of National ID Card or Passport.
  • Proof of having completed the required tasks. Students who are exempt from fees should proceed as outlined in article 8 of these regulations.
  • Certified photocopy of the certificate(s) attesting to the qualification which provided access to the university Master’s degree or photocopy and original for comparison purposes, if these documents were not submitted when enrolling on the Master’s course. Students who earned this qualification at the UPV/EHU are exempt from having to submit these documents.

The Secretariat of the Faculty running the Master’s will issue a receipt of payment of the issuing fee for the corresponding Official University Master’s Degree Certificate, which will provisionally have the same validity as the certificate itself, until said document has been issued.

Collection of Degree Certificates.

1.- Once printed, the certificate must be collected in person by the interested party, from the Secretariat of the Faculty running the Master’s degree. In the event of the student not being able to collect their certificate in person, they may authorise someone else to do it for them by presenting a notarised power of attorney.

Notwithstanding the provisions of the preceding paragraph, the interested party may send a written request to the Secretariat of the Faculty responsible for the Master’s degree course asking them to send their certificate to the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Bizkaia Campus, the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Gipuzkoa Campus, the Pro Vice-Chancellor of the Álava Campus, the Provincial Department of Education and Culture, the Office of Education or the Consular Office nearest their place of residence.

2.- The same procedure will govern the collection of any duplicate degree certificates.

 

Section II. Issuing of other certificates

Article 23. - Requesting Certificates.

Requests for the issuing of certificates corresponding to courses and seminars attended should be submitted to the Secretariat of the Faculty running the Master’s course, accompanied by the required documents. Information about which documents are required will be provided each academic year on the UPV/EHU website and in the Secretariats established to this effect by the Faculty running the Master’s degree course.

 

Section III. Public prices

Article 24.- Public prices for the issuing of degree certificates and other certificates.

The fees for issuing official postgraduate degree certificates and other certificates will be those established by the Basque Government Department of Education, Universities and Research.

Payment of these fees should be made to one of the accounts indicated by the UPV/EHU upon requesting that a certificate be issued.
