Presentation

Rafael Cazarin holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of the Basque Country UPV-EHU with a full doctoral grant awarded by the Basque Government. He completed his BA in Sociology at the University of Coimbra, an MSc in Migration Studies and an MPhil in Social Sciences Research, both at UPV-EHU. Rafael has been appointed a visiting researcher in prestigious institutions such as the African Centre for Migration and Society at the University of the Witwatersrand (2013), ISOR Research in Sociology of Religion at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (2014), and the International Migration Institute at the University of Oxford (2015). He is currently a postdoctoral fellow for the Basque Government in South Africa with the project Manhood and Social Transformation: an analysis of Innovative Practices towards Gender Justice in Complex Societies. His work focuses on processes of social transformation combined with emotions, masculinities, migration, religion, and spirituality.
