RHEOLOGY GROUP

Objectives

The research activity of the group focuses on the correlation structure-rheology-applications, studied in polymer based nanocomposites and in novel polymers and copolymers formulations. The research shows a double basic/applied aspect, following the trends established in the document Horizon 2020 of the European Commission, especially in the fields of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
The research lines are summarized as follows:

  • Characterization, rheology and properties of novel vinyl copolymers (in collaboration with ERCROS)
  • Viscoelasticity of supramolecular polymers with networks that give rise to self healing materials (in collaboration with BERC Polymat and CIDETEC)
  • Thermoplastics and thermosets filled with electrically conductive nanoparticles (carbon nanotubes and graphenes) to take advantage of the Joule effect, creating stimulus-response materials.
  • Blends filled with nanoparticles to change the polymer morphology and improve properties.
  • Use of rheological models to optimize virtual polymer injection molding.
