Lourdes Basabe is an IKERBASQUE Research Professor at the University of the Basque Country and director of the MICROFLUIDICS and BIOMICS Cluster UPV/EHU. She is a corresponding young member of Jakiunde, the Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters of the Basque Country since 2016. Her The team develops analytical platforms, based on microfluidics and materials science, through microfabrication. She has an extensive international experience, she studied chemistry at the Autonomous University of Madrid, she did a PhD in supramolecular chemistry and nantechnology at the University of Twente in the Netherlands, and did her postdoctoral work at the City University of Dublin (DCU) in Ireland. She has made research stays at the University of Berkeley in the USA, at the University of Auckland in New Zealand and at the National University of Singapore. She has received several awards related to the transfer and commercialization of research, as well as the prestigious award UNESCO LÓreal for women in science. Lourdes Basabe's work has been published in more than 35 articles in international journals, and in more than 30 conferences, her work has received more than 1200 citations to date. She is the author of 7 patents and forms part of the advisory board of two start ups, INDICATE Solutions and BioDTEK. (June 2019)
