Javier Gardeazabal is Professor of Economics at the University of the Basque Country. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in Economics and Management from the University of the Basque Country. Professor Gardeazabal has an ample teaching experience, mostly at the University of the Basque Country, but also at the University of Pennsylvania and the University of California at Santa Cruz. He is the director of the Master in Economics: Empirical Applications and Policies. His research covers the economics of conflict, forced displacement, gender discrimination, educational measurement, foreign exchange rate dynamics, and cultural economics. Professor Gardeazabal has been coeditor of various Spanish Journals and member of the Advisory Board of the Spanish Independent Fiscal Authority (AIReF). He is associate editor of Defense and Peace Economics.
