Eva Portillo is Associate Professor in the department of Automatic Control and Systems engineering at the Higher Technical Engineering School in Bilbao (University of the Basque Country). She gained her PhD in Engineering in 2007 and received the Prize for Outstanding Doctoral Thesis awarded by the University of the Basque Country in 2010. Also, she has several awards at national conferences. Her research interests focus on the application of Intelligent Techniques and Real-time solutions to manufacturing and industrial processes, as well as robotics and bioengineering. She has published more than 25 scientific papers in high-quality JCR journals such as IEEE Transactions on Neural Networks and Learning Systems, Applied Soft Computing, Neural Computing and Applications, and Expert Systems with Applications. In 2016 was a visitor professor at the Knowledge Engineering and Discovery Research Institute KEDRI (Auckland University of Technology, Auckland, New Zealand). From 2017 to 2019 Eva Portillo has been Deputy Head of the Master and Doctoral School of the University of the Basque Country. Currently, Eva Portillo is Academic Secretary of the Doctoral School of the University of the Basque Country.
