MADEEHI's main objective is to strengthen capacities for managing energy, water, housing and new technologies in harmony with the socio-cultural environment, in order to ensure a sustainable and rational local development based on entrepreneurship and the value of natural resources in Madagascar. Another goal is to improve university / company cooperation at regional, national and international levels.

To achieve this, the following actions will be carried out:

• Reform teaching programs in five areas (water, energy, housing, computing and anthropology) at master's level, according to local needs, market demand and the requirements of the Bologna process for 2018.

• To train 18 professors / researchers and professors / researchers in disciplines related to the scope of the project.

• Establish a regional network with all key sectors (universities, public authorities, companies).

• Acquisition of new educational equipment and facilities.

One of the highlights of the MADEEHI project is the establishment of teams of interest in a pilot village "Village Vert" (Pueblo Verde), so that the sections related to teaching, implementation, car-learning and coordinated management of the entire value chain. Beyond the technical aspect, the objective is to validate the suitability of the different solutions proposed and the expectations of the real users.

The participation of the UPV/EHU in this project is important. Here is a summary of some of the university’s activities:

• Construction of the Pueblo Verde (next to IST-Antananarivo, Madagascar).

• Together with the University of Antananarivo, co-responsible for the section on communication and dissemination of the project results, as well as the organization of workshops related to new technological platforms, technical exhibitions, etc.

Professors and teachers of the UPV/EHU participate in training in Madagascar on energy issues (micro-electric networks, energy storage, wind turbine ...) and information technology.
