The course is designed to help students improve their command of the four basic linguistics skills in the context of maritime business. It is organised around a selection of texts, exercises, listening, writing and speaking activities aimed at helping students gain a command of the English language used in maritime business domains to an advanced level.

This course will help students understand and use effectively the English language used in technical maritime and commercial contexts.

100% continuous assessment, based on tasks carried out during the course.



In the event of a lockdown for public health reasons, if the academic authorities indicate so, assessment tasks may take place online via the course site on eGela.



The University's regulations and deadlines apply in case the student wishes to opt out of the continuous assessment system or from the call altogether.

Irakasgai-zerrenda

Reading, writing, listening and speaking activities around the following topics:

Port State Control, sub-standard ships, Paris Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), Classification societies, Piracy, Legal Language, Report writing, Video activities, Money and banking vocabulary, Use of English: Grammar and vocabulary, BBC News reports.
