Emotions as Aesthetic Properties of Absolute Music

Ana Agirrebaltzategi earned her PhD in Cognitive Science and Humanities on Wednesday, 20th  September of 2017, with a dissertation entitled Emotions as Aesthetic Properties of Absolute Music, supervised by Prof. Kepa Korta, at the Institute for Logic, Cognition, Language and Information (ILCLI) of the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU, Donostia). The defense panel, composed by Prof. John Perry (Stanford, President), Prof. María de Ponte (Seville) and Prof. Javier Aguirre (UPV-EHU, Secretary), awarded Agirrebaltzategi's work the highest honors.
            In her work, Agirrebaltzategi delves into the relationship of music and emotions, adopting a philosophical standpoint proper of analytics aesthetics tradition. Her research sheds light on the issue of how musical properties are related to its expressive power.
