Biography

María Jesús Barandiaran is Associated Professor of Chemical Engineering and member of the Research Institute for Polymer Materials (POLYMAT) of the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) at Donostia-San Sebastián, Spain. She graduated in Chemistry (specialization in Macromolecules) from the UPV/EHU and obtained the PhD from the same University working in polycondensation reactions in semibatch reactors, under the supervision of Prof J. M. Asua. She spent a one year post-doctoral stay in the Chemical Engineering Department at the University of Madison-Wisconsin (USA), working with Prof W. H. Ray, on emulsion polymerization in continuous reactors.

Research

Her research has been mainly focused on polymer reaction engineering aspects of polymerization in dispersion media. As a result, she has published more than 60 articles, two book chapters and took part in several international Congresses. Furthermore, she participates actively in different projects supported by national and international companies of the field.
