IN MEMORIAM: Dr. Iñaki Eguiazabal

(<strong>Professor, research Group:</strong> Polymer Processing)

Biography

Jose I. Eguiazabal earned his BS, MS and PhD in Chemistry from the University of the Basque Country. He is full Professor of Materials Science of the University of the Basque Country since 1999. His teaching activity deals mainly with polymer processing and processing-structure-properties relationships. He has been invited professor in post-graduate masters from different Spanish universities and research institutes.

Research

His research interest is focused on the processing-structure-properties relationships in polymeric materials, including neat polymers, polymer blends, polymer composites and nanocomposites. The main current research lines are those devoted to polymer blends and polymer/organoclay nanocomposites. The first line includes the characterization of new polymer blends, compatibilization of immiscible blends, and the development of supertough materials based on thermoplastic/elastomer systems. The main topics in the polymer nanocomposites line are the optimization of properties of new nanocomposites, the development of ternary polymer/polymer/organoclay nanocomposites (nanoblends) and supertough nanocomposites.

Publications

Professor Jose I. Eguiazabal has co-authored four book chapters and published more than 150 articles in international impact polymer journals. He has supervised 9 PhD theses.
