Dr. Ajith Abraham
Dr. Ajith Abraham’s research and development experience includes over 24 years in the Academia and Industry. He works in a multi-disciplinary environment involving machine (network) intelligence, cyber security, sensor networks, Web intelligence, scheduling, data mining and applied to various real world problems. He has given more than 70 conference plenary lectures/tutorials and invited seminars/lectures in over 100 Universities around the globe. He is an author/co-author of 1000+ publications and some of the works have also won best paper awards at International conferences and also received several citations. Some articles are available in the ScienceDirect Top 25 hottest articles.
He serves/has served the editorial board of over 50 International Journals under various capacities. Besides an active Volunteer of ACM/IEEE, he has initiated and is also involved in the organization of several annual conferences sponsored by IEEE/ACM: HIS (14 years), ISDA (14 years), IAS (9 years) NWeSP (9 years)NaBIC (6 years), SoCPaR (6 years), CASoN (6 years) etc. Currently, he is also coordinating the activities of the Machine Intelligence Research Labs (MIR Labs), International Scientific Network for Innovation and Research Excellence, which has members from over 100 countries. He has a world wide academic experience with formal appointments in Monash University, Australia; Oklahoma State University, USA; Chung-Ang University, Seoul; Jinan University, China; Rovira i Virgili University, Spain; Dalian Maritime University, China; Yonsei University, Seoul and Open University of Catalonia, Spain, National Institute of Applied Sciences (INSA), France, Norwegian University of Science and Technology(NTNU), Norway; Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Hungary and VSB-Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic. For about 2.5 years, he was working under the Institute of Information Technology Advancement (IITA) Professorship Program funded by the South Korean Government. Before turning into a full time academic, he was working with three International companies: Keppel Engineering, Singapore,Hyundai Engineering, Korea and Ashok Leyland Ltd, India where he was involved in different industrial research and development projects for nearly 8 years. He received Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Monash University, Australia and a Master of Science degree in Automation fromNanyang Technological University, Singapore.
Professor Michal Wozniak
Michal Wozniak is a professor of computer science at the Department of Systems and Computer Networks, Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, Poland. He received M.Sc. degree in biomedical engineering from the Wroclaw University of Technology in 1992, and Ph.D. and D.Sc. (habilitation) degrees in computer science in 1996 and 2007, respectively, from the same university. In 2015 he was nominated as the professor by President of Poland. His research focuses on compound classification methods, hybrid artificial intelligence and medical informatics. Prof. Wozniak has published over 260 papers and three books. His recent one Hybrid classifiers: Method of Data, Knowledge, and Data Hybridization was published by Springer in 2014. He has been involved in research projects related to the above-mentioned topics and has been a consultant of several commercial projects for well-known Polish companies and public administration. Prof. Wozniak is a senior member of the IEEE.
Dr. Carlos Toro
Dr. Carlos Toro received both his Ph.D. And M.Sc in Computer Science from the University of the Basque Country (Spain) and his Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering (with honors) from EAFIT University (Colombia). In 1998 he was student researcher in the LSFA (Large Scale Flexible Automation Lab) of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA). His bachelor dissertation was selected between the candidates for the national excellence prize finalizing as one of the runner-ups. Upon finalization of his bachelor, Dr. Toro started as lecturer at EAFIT University teaching both CAD/CAM Systems (Computational Geometry) and Conceptual Design. In 2003 he moved to Spain and started working for Vicomtech-IK4 within the Industrial and Advanced Manufacturing division, where his main tasks are the application of AI and Semantic Technologies in Virtual Engineering, and the use of computer graphics and CAD, focusing on the knowledge and experience re-use along the PLC and recently on the implementation and support of novel initiatives like Industrie 4.0. Dr. Toro has been also collaborating with the eHealth area in the application of artificial intelligence and knowledge engineering to diagnosis systems (CDSS) and the gathering of medical knowledge for re-use. In 2007 he was invited researcher at the University of Newcastle (NSW-Australia) returning in 2011 with a Marie Curie research visitor grant funded by the EU Commission.
Dr. Toro has been involved in different PhD committees and supervisions and directed or co-directed several Master and bachelor student projects. His academic record includes more than 60 published articles in high impact Journals and conferences. Dr. Toro contributes as reviewer and member of the editorial committee of several conferences and high impact journals. He is also member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and the International Association of ontologies and their application (IAOA).
Dr. Sebastian Rios
Sebastián A. Ríos is Assistant Professor at the Industrial Engineering Department of the University of Chile since (2008). He received the B.E on Industrial Engineering on 2001, the B.E on Computer Science, P.E. on Industrial Engineering on 2003 from the University of Chile, Chile; and the Ph.D. on Knowledge Engineering from the University of Tokyo, Japan on 2007.
He is the Founder and Director of the Business Intelligence Research Center (CEINE) at the University of Chile since 2012, a collaborative applied research effort between prived companies and the University. His research interests include data mining algorithms in big dataset and its applications to different industry domains (medicine, marketing, management, etc.); he also is interested in generative topic models for text mining in social networks and knowledge representation using semantic web technologies.
Professor Ríos won the 1st place at PAN 2011 – Uncovering Plagiarism, Authorship, and Social Software Misuse worldwide competition and 5th place at the same competition on 2010. He’s been part of the organization of several international conferences. He also participated from the edition of several books and proceedings and he is reviewer of several International Journals. He also participated from the creation of at least four start-up companies.
