Arantxa Eceiza

(Profesora Titular)

Arantxa Eceiza es Profesora Titular de Ingeniería Química del Departamento de Ingeniería Química y del Medio Ambiente de la Universidad del País Vasco (UPV/EHU), en la Escuela Politécnica de Donostia-San Sebastián, España. Se graduó en Ciencias Químicas por la UPV/EHU y se doctoró por la misma Universidad, trabajando en la síntesis y el estudio de la relación estructura-propiedades de poliuretanos, bajo la dirección del Catedrático I. Mondragon. Desde 1991, miembro del Grupo de Investigación ‘Materiales+Tecnologías', fundado en 1987 por el Catadrático I. Mondragon.

Su actividad docente se centra principalmente en la Química y la Ciencia de los Materiales impartidos en los Grados de Ingeniería (Escuela Politécnica) y en Biomateriales y Biocomposites impartidos en másteres de postgrado. Es miembro de la Comisión Académica del Máster en Ingeniería de Materiales Renovables y responsable del Programa de Doctorado de Ingeniería de Materiales Renovables de la UPV/EHU, que ha sido reconocido por el Ministerio de Educación de España como un Programa de Doctorado altamente cualificado (Mención de Calidad (MCD2008-00126) y hacia la excelencia (MEE2011-0372)).

Actualmente dirige el Grupo de Investigación ‘Materiales + Tecnologías' (GMT) formado por 20 Profesores Titulares, Agregados y Asociados, 1 Investigador Ramón y Cajal, así como más de 40 becarios posdoctorales y estudiantes de doctorado. El GMT ha sido reconocido por el Gobierno Vasco como Grupo de Investigación Consolidado (IT-776-13). Las principales líneas de investigación del grupo engloban los Materiales: Composites (matrices termoplásticas y termoestables con diferentes tipos de fibras), Biomateriales (matrices en base a materiales renovables, biopolímeros y sus compuestos) y Nanomateriales (síntesis y funcionalización de nanopartículas inorgánicas, magnéticas y metálicas, nanoarcillas, nanoestructuras de carbono y nanoentidades de quitina y celulosa, materiales nanoestructurados, cepillos de polímero, ...).

Su interés investigador se centra principalmente en poliuretanos (termoplásticos, termoestables, espumas rígidas-flexibles, en base de agua) y matrices poliméricas en base a materiales renovables (almidón, gelatinas, hemicelulosas, precursores poliméricos) y sus nanocompuestos con nanofibras y nanocristales de celulosa, celulosa bacteriana, nanocristales de quitina, nanopartículas inorgánicas y metálicas y nanoestructuras de carbono, así como polymer brushes y otros materiales funcionales.

Ha participado en más de 60 proyectos de investigación financiados por el Gobierno Vasco, la Universidad del País Vasco, Diputación de Gipuzkoa, Gobierno de España (Ministerio de Economía y Competitividad), la Comisión Europea y proyectos financiados por empresas, siendo Investigador Principal en 30 de ellos.

Ha publicado más de 100 artículos en revistas internacionales de alto índice de impacto y participado en más de 100 conferencias y presentaciones de pósters en congresos internacionales. Es coautora de dos capítulos de libro. Ha participado también como miembro de Comités Científicos y Organizadores en varios congresos internacionales. Ha dirigido 7 tesis doctorales, 3 de ellas con Mención Internacional.
