Dr. Montero Gilete academic career is marked by frequent contributions to the theory of Children’s fantasy literature and the learning-teaching of the English language through literature. These participations have been disseminated through the publication of articles, books and book chapters, didactic guides, communications and national and international congresses.

His research line for the next few years intends to continue exploring the world of English and American literature, attending, on the one hand and generally, to the English Gothic and Romantic period (as some of his publications show), and on the other and more specifically, to the reinterpretation of the literature of the American West and its relationship with the Fantasy and Science Fiction. In this line, and as a member of the consolidated research group Rewest, he has already begun to develop a reinterpretation of the traditional figure of the hero applied to the West and its subsequent transformation as shown by the studies The Hero of the West in the Chronicles of Narnia (2014) and Stephen King's fantastic Western (2017) published by PeterLang.

He combines his work as academic and researcher with his duties as Director of University Outreach (Culture and Sports) at University of the Basque Country in Alava.
