I obtained BSc degree in Biology in 2003 and PhD in 2010 at the UPV/EHU. My teaching experience began in 2010 and since 2021, I am Associate Professor at the Department of Cell Biology and Histology (UPV/EHU). I am currently the coordinator of the subject called “Basic Medical Histology” (in Spanish) and since 2022, head of the Official Master´s Degree in Biomedical Research.
My research experience is focused in cancer biology; during my PhD I focused on the molecular mechanisms leading to tumor chemoresistance and during my postdoctoral experience I deepened on the transcriptional mechanisms regulated by E2F transcription factors and linked to deregulations of cell cycle or response to DNA damage. Nowadays I am member of the group Cancer and Translational Medicine where I am focused on the determination of EV-mediated signaling and biomarker discovery, mainly for melanoma. My research experience has been enforced also by international stays in MUSC (SC, USA, 2007, 2008), SDU (Denmark, 2015) and BIMSB (Germany, 2022). I am author of 15 research articles (JCR) and several book chapters. Since 2017 I am an external evaluator of PICT projects (Argentina).
