Effects of pollution and water diversion on stream food webs.

Research interests

I am an interdisciplinary ecologist with special focus on food web ecology. I am particularly interested on assessing the effects of global environmental change on ecosystem structure and functioning through a combination of different qualitative and quantitative tools. I hold a PhD in since 2022 where I assessed the effects of pollution and water detraction on the structure and functioning of stream food webs by means of stable isotope analyses, modeling food webs’ bioenergetics and estimating energy fluxes. Currently I am a postdoctoral researcher at the EHU and at the French national research institute for agriculture food and environment (INRAE) funded by UPV/EHU (PostUPV2024) and my research focuses on addressing the effects of global change on stream food webs over time by means of time series. I am interested in addressing how invertebrate and fish community similarities have changed over the last decades as well as on disentangling how food webs and food web bioenergetics have been altered with the aim of identifying the main drivers leading to these changes.
