M. Carmen Encinas Reguero holds a PhD in Classical Philology (Greek) from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) with a thesis on the influence of rhetoric in the early tragedies of Sophocles, which won the extraordinary doctoral prize and also the prize of the Spanish Society of Classical Studies. She has been a postdoctoral researcher for two years at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich (Germany) and has carried out research stays at the University of Salamanca and at the Institute of Languages and Cultures of the Mediterranean and the Near East (ILC) of the CSIC. At present she is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Classical Studies at the UPV/EHU. Her areas of research are, above all, Greek rhetoric and theatre. In these fields she has co-edited several collective volumes (e.g. Tragic Rhetoric. The Rhetorical Dimensions of Greek Tragedy, Aracne, 2021 or Connecting Rhetoric and Attic Drama, Levante Editori, 2017) and has published numerous articles and book chapters in both national and international journals and volumes. She has also participated in several national and regional research projects and is lead researcher of the research group IdeoLit: La Literatura como documento histórico. In the field of management, she has been Vice-Dean of Mobility, Communication and Social Projection for four years.
