Currently teaching Microeconomics at the Faculty of Economics and Business in Vitoria-Gasteiz. He has taught in the Master's Degree "Renewable energies, fuel cells and hydrogen" organised by the CSIC (Spanish National Research Council).

He has carried out two postdoctoral stays, one of two years at the CTU of Prague (Czech Republic), and a second one of the same duration at the Catholic University of Lille (France). Lille (France).

He has worked in the Energy Department of Ikerlan (Mondragon Group), for the Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council, and Alokabide, the Basque Government's public company for social housing for rental.

He has participated in the preparation of proposals that have obtained funding in national and international competitive calls. He has been awarded research grants, such as a Short Term Scientific Mission (STSM) carried out at the NTUA in Athens (Greece). He has also participated in research projects in the area of energy, being principal investigator in several of them. He has worked as a consultant in the European LIFE BioSOFC project.

Currently, his research interests are focused on energy poverty; public policies on fuel poverty, mainly at the municipal level, and the effects of fuel poverty on health. In 2016 he joined the COST Action 16232 "European Energy Poverty: Agenda Co-Creation and Knowledge Innovation".
