Note to all speakers

We ask that you introduce briefly your planned contributions (circa 1-2 minutes) at the start of your roundtable, keeping in mind the goal of the symposium (workshopping your contribution). Ideally, your short introduction will explain your focus and your methodology. Feel free to use the following questions as a guide:

1. The present situation: Researchers as witnesses of unfolding events. What happens on different levels of the festival ecosystem? What is your chosen focus? What are some of your preliminary observations? Which sources are you using? What matters beckon close scrutiny?

2. The past of festivals and festival studies. Our present understanding of the situation is not only contingent upon our knowledge of the past, but also the occasion for rethinking festival studies itself. How is your approach informed by earlier research and epistemologies? Do we need to adapt our theoretical frames and tools?

3. The future of festival / festival studies. Does your intervention enable us to think about a potential “after” COVID? If so, what can be some early informed guesses?
