If you had the opportunity to work on a research project on democracy, what would it be about?

I would focus on how democratic frameworks are shaped, limited, and sometimes hollowed out in colonial and settler colonial contexts. In particular, I would examine how democracy operates where colonial power structures remain intact, and how claims of democratic governance can coexist with systematic exclusion, racialisation, and denial of collective rights.
