The Gipuzkoa Faculty of Engineering promotes the use of Basque in all areas. Since the creation of the Basque Language Committee, it has supported all activities that arise around the Basque language.

Participation and initiatives

The Faculty participates in various initiatives with the aim of strengthening the presence and use of Basque:

• Korrika: The Gipuzkoa Faculty of Engineering takes part in the Korrika, this major popular initiative in support of Basque. Students, teaching staff and workers run together, demonstrating their commitment to Basque.
• Basque Language Day: On 3 December, International Basque Language Day, the Faculty organises special activities to celebrate and promote the use of Basque. These activities include, among others, workshops, round tables, competitions and cultural events in Basque.
• Euskaraldia: The Faculty also takes part in Euskaraldia, this popular movement to change language habits and increase the use of Basque.
• Ika mizka: Ika mizka sessions have been held at the Donostia campus and in the Eibar section, as meeting points to speak in Basque and get to know one another.

Quality certificate

The Faculty obtained the BIKAIN Basque Language Quality Certificate in June 2018. This certificate recognises the work carried out in the management and promotion of Basque, and confirms the Faculty's commitment to the normalisation of the language.
