The Scientometrics Unit of the Sgiker Foundation organized an in-person session on Artificial Intelligence and research activity at the Bilbao School of Engineering on May 21, 2026, with the aim of answering the question: How can a university translate responsible AI principles into real capabilities for researchers, faculty, and students?

During the two-hour presentation, technical and sales staff from Elsevier, one of the world's leading providers of scientific information, explained the main concerns of academics worldwide regarding the use of Artificial Intelligence.

After praising the document prepared by the University of the Basque Country (EHU), "Principles and Recommendations for the Use of Generative AI," they detailed the features of the tool proposed by the company: LeapSpace. This tool is capable of providing researchers with relevant information on emerging topics, funding sources, potential collaborators and evaluators, as well as relevant conferences, all thanks to the use of AI, while maintaining a secure and reliable working environment at all times. The event also served to gather various questions raised by researchers and technical staff from Sgiker.
