During 2015, the unit of atomic spectrometry Central Analysis Service of Bizkaia (SCAB) has reached the 28500 samples processed. Since its introduction as a unit in the General Research Services (SGIker) of the University of the Basque Country in 2005 they have developed a significant number of applications focused on the analysis of inorganic elements in samples of very different origin and belonging to the branches of Health Sciences, Experimental Sciences, Engineering - Architecture and Arts - and Humanities.

During this period, it has been acquired modern equipment that has helped to achieve results under the quality criteria required for a laboratory of inorganic chemical analysis. In this regard and in collaboration with the Quality and Innovation Unit of SGIker, all analisis are certified under the criteria of the ISO 9001 standard since 2010. More specifically, and since 2013, the analysis of inorganic elements in drinking, continental and residual water, are, in turn, credited under the criteria of the ISO 17025 standard.
