About me
Laura holds a degree in biomedical sciences from the University of Barcelona. After several extracurricular placements in genetic engineering and cancer biology laboratories, she focused her interest on neuroscience and completed her undergraduate thesis (TFG) in the Parkinson's disease and other neurodegenerative movement disorders group at Hospital Clínic-IDIBAPS in Barcelona.
After completing her master's degree in neuroscience at the UPV/EHU, she carried out her master's thesis (TFM) at the glial and neuronal autophagy laboratory at the Achucarro Basque Center for Neuroscience. There, she continued working as a researcher on the communication between astrocytes and neurons through the primary cilium in Alzheimer's models.
She joined the group in 2022 to begin her PhD on the dysfunction of noradrenergic circuits in the early stages of Parkinson's disease. Her doctoral research is being conducted as a joint project between our group and the dopamine and neuronal networks laboratory at the Institut des Maladies Neurodégénératives - University of Bordeaux.
In addition, she holds an expert certification in the foundations of scientific culture from the Public University of Navarra. She balances her laboratory work with science communication, both on social media and by organizing and participating in talks and workshops for children and adults.
