Graduate (1997) and PhD (2006) in Mechanical Engineering at UPV/EHU. Associate Professor at the Department of Mechanical Engineering in Bilbao, he has been teaching and researching since November 2000 after a brief professional experience at an engineering company. Accredited for "Profesor Pleno" by UNIBASQ since 2021. His teaching has been focused mainly on subjects related to Strength of Materials and Structures. The research activity has been focused on the study of the dynamic of rail vehicles, wheel-rail contact mechanics and wheel-rail profiles optimization. He belongs to a consolidated research group of the UPV/EHU and the Basque Government (in 4 calls). His research contributions include 3 sexennial evaluations (last active: 2016-2021), 23 JCR-indexed publications (15 in Q1), +35 conference contributions, participation in 18 research projects, 6 of them being European Projects. Principal Investigator of 2 National Projects, 1 European Project and several Industry Projects. Co-director of 3 Doctoral Thesis and inventor of 1 patent. His research team was awarded the prestigious V TALGO Technological Research Prize in 2005, the Best Poster Presentation Prize at the 24th International Symposium on Dynamics of Vehicles on Roads and Tracks in 2015, and the Best Applied Research Prize at the XIX CNIM in 2012. He collaborates with Euskal Trenbide Sarea – Basque Railway Network (ETS-RFV) as part of a research team working to reduce rail corrugation growth in metro lines.
