Physics degree (Licenciado) in U. Complutense. Part III and PhD in University of Cambridge, working on quantum groups. Postdoctoral stay in Paris VI/VII, carrying out research in the propagation of classical strings in curved spacetimes, showing the modification of Regge trajectories in this context. After moving to the University of the Basque Country in 1993, he started a research line on time in quantum mechanics. This has led to publications on the time operator, quantum speed limits, quantum thermodynamics. The abstract results become useful in concrete realizations, also known as platforms, and he has paid special attention to circuit quantum electrodynamics, that is quantum excitations on superconducting circuits.
