Aitor Larrañaga graduated in Chemical Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of Bilbao (2008) at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) and followed with a Master in Advanced Materials Engineering at the same faculty (2009-2010). Nowadays, he has an associate lecturer position within the Department of Mining-Metallurgy and Materials Science, where he teaches the subject: Fundamentals of Materials Science.
He completed an international PhD (2014) entitled “Fabrication and Characterization of Lactide and Caprolactone Based Bioresorbable and Bioactive Polymer Scaffolds for Tissue-Engineering Applications”, which got the highest rating (Cum Laude) and the extraordinary doctorate award by the UPV/EHU.
Thanks to several mobility and postdoctoral grants, he visited several international laboratories including Laval University (Quebec, Canada), National University of Ireland (Galway, Ireland) and Basel University (Basel, Switzerland).
As a researcher, Aitor Larrañaga has contributed to the scientific community, since 2013, with a total of 4 review papers, 2 book chapters, 2 patents, 20 contributions to international conferences and 21 research papers in high-impact factor journals in the field of Materials Science and Engineering [e.j.; Progress in Materials Science (IF: 23.8), Acta Biomaterialia (IF: 6.5), Nanomedicine: Nanotechnology, Biology and Medicine (IF: 6.5), etc.).
