Maite Pelacho is a researcher and project manager at the Ibercivis Foundation. She holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of the Basque Country EHU (with extraordinary PhD award), a BSc in Physics (University of Valencia), and advanced studies in Environmental Engineering (University of Zaragoza). Her research focuses on the epistemology and governance of science and citizen science, exploring them as knowledge commons to promote a more equitable, efficient, and sustainable research systems. She has coordinated the Spanish Observatory on Citizen Science since 2018.  Additionally, between 2018 and 2026, she delivered training on citizen science to over 2,500 individuals, including teaching and research staff, doctoral students, secondary school teachers and students, library personnel, healthcare professionals, science and technology museum staff, and members of associations, among others. She is currently involved in several national and European initiatives, including the Ibercivis-led, European-funded project RIECS-Concept (Towards a Pan-European Research Infrastructure for Excellent Citizen Science).
