Short biography

I, Benthe Van Buyten, am a PhD student on the MiCoS Project since September 2023. My research focuses on the microplastic extraction of agricultural soils and the analysis of the MiCoS soil samples. Furthermore, I designed a comprehensive classification system for macroplastics in terrestrial ecosystems in order to monitor and. At last, I will investigate the plastic biofilm and the effect of plastic on the soil microbiome and search for plastic-degrading microorganisms.
