María-José Gutiérrez is Professor of Economics at the University of the Basque Country (UPV-EHU). She holds a Ph.D. from the State University of New York at Stony Brook and a B.A. in Economics from UPV-EHU. She has taught Microeconomics, Macroeconomics, Natural Resource Economics and Monetary Economics. She taught Math for economists and Microeconomics for PhD students and Macroeconomics for undergraduates at the State University of New York. She was Visiting Professor at the University of Warwick, University of California San Diego and Kansas State University.
Professor Gutiérrez has contributed to the study of natural resources management and the macroeconomic modeling of environmental economics. Her research has been published in Journal of Environmental Economics and Management, Ecological Economics, Environmental Resource Economics, Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Applied Economics, Journal of Public Economic Theory, International Tax and Public Finance, Journal of Institutional and Theoretical Economics, ICES Journal of Marine Sciences, Frontiers of Marine Science, Sustainability, Ocean & Coastal Management, Scientia Marina, Fisheries Research, Regional Environmental Change, Spanish Economic Review, and Annales D`Economie et de Statistique.
Professor Gutiérrez is Head of the PhD Progam in Quantitative Finance and Economics
at the University of the Basque Country and member of ANECA Assessment Committee for university studies (VERIFICA Program).
