Then Zebul said to him, "Where indeed [is] your mouth now, with which you said, 'Who is Abimelech, that we should serve him?' [Are] not these the people whom you despised? Go out, if you will, and fight with them now."

Then Abimelech went up to Mount Zalmon, he and all the people who [were] with him. And Abimelech took an ax in his hand and cut down a bough from the trees, and took it and laid [it] on his shoulder; then he said to the people who were with him, "What you have seen me do, make haste [and] do as I [have done."]

So each of the people likewise cut down his own bough and followed Abimelech, put [them] against the stronghold, and set the stronghold on fire above them, so that all the people of the tower of Shechem died, about a thousand men and women.

But there was a strong tower in the city, and all the men and women -- all the people of the city -- fled there and shut themselves in; then they went up to the top of the tower.

Abimelek, dorreraino heldurik, eraso eta su emateko asmoz ateraino hurbildu zenean,

So Abimelech came as far as the tower and fought against it; and he drew near the door of the tower to burn it with fire.

Then he called quickly to the young man, his armorbearer, and said to him, "Draw your sword and kill me, lest men say of me, 'A woman killed him.' " So his young man thrust him through, and he died.

Then the children of Israel again did evil in the sight of the LORD, and served the Baals and the Ashtoreths, the gods of Syria, the gods of Sidon, the gods of Moab, the gods of the people of Ammon, and the gods of the Philistines; and they forsook the LORD and did not serve Him.

From that year they harassed and oppressed the children of Israel for eighteen years -- all the children of Israel who [were] on the other side of the Jordan in the land of the Amorites, in Gilead.

And the children of Israel said to the LORD, "We have sinned! Do to us whatever seems best to You; only deliver us this day, we pray."

Then the people of Ammon gathered together and encamped in Gilead. And the children of Israel assembled together and encamped in Mizpah.

And the people, the leaders of Gilead, said to one another, "Who [is] the man who will begin the fight against the people of Ammon? He shall be head over all the inhabitants of Gilead."

Now Jephthah the Gileadite was a mighty man of valor, but he [was] the son of a harlot; and Gilead begot Jephthah.

Gilead's wife bore sons; and when his wife's sons grew up, they drove Jephthah out, and said to him, "You shall have no inheritance in our father's house, for you [are] the son of another woman."

Then Jephthah fled from his brothers and dwelt in the land of Tob; and worthless men banded together with Jephthah and went out [raiding] with him.

It came to pass after a time that the people of Ammon made war against Israel.

Cuando ello sucedi?, los ancianos de Galaad fueron a traer a Jeft? de la tierra de Tob,

Et comme les fils d'Ammon faisaient la guerre ? Isra?l, les anciens de Galaad all?rent chercher Jephth? au pays de Tob.

And so it was, when the people of Ammon made war against Israel, that the elders of Gilead went to get Jephthah from the land of Tob.

Then they said to Jephthah, "Come and be our commander, that we may fight against the people of Ammon."

Baina Jeftek ihardetsi zien: -Zuek, ni gorrotatu eta aitaren etxetik bota ninduzuenok, orain, estuasunean, niregana al zatozte?

Jeft? respondi? a los ancianos de Galaad: -- ?No me aborrecisteis vosotros y me echasteis de la casa de mi padre? ?Por qu?, pues, ven?s ahora a m? cuando est?is en aflicci?n?

Jephth? r?pondit aux anciens de Galaad: N'avez-vous pas eu de la haine pour moi, et ne m'avez-vous pas chass? de la maison de mon p?re ? Pourquoi venez-vous ? moi maintenant que vous ?tes dans la d?tresse ?

So Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, "Did you not hate me, and expel me from my father's house? Why have you come to me now when you are in distress?"

Galaadeko arduradunek esan zioten Jefteri: -Horrexegatik gatozkizu, hain zuzen. Zatoz gurekin, borroka zaitez amondarren kontra, eta Galaadeko bizilagunen buruzagi izango zara.

Los ancianos de Galaad respondieron a Jeft?: -- Por esta misma causa volvemos ahora a ti, para que vengas con nosotros a pelear contra los hijos de Am?n y a ser el caudillo de todos los que vivimos en Galaad.

Les anciens de Galaad dirent ? Jephth?: Nous revenons ? toi maintenant, afin que tu marches avec nous, que tu combattes les fils d'Ammon, et que tu sois notre chef, celui de tous les habitants de Galaad.

And the elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, "That is why we have turned again to you now, that you may go with us and fight against the people of Ammon, and be our head over all the inhabitants of Gilead."

Jeftek, orduan: -Amondarren kontra borrokatzera joatea nahi baduzue eta Jaunak eskura ematen baldin badizkit, neu izango nauzue buruzagi.

So Jephthah said to the elders of Gilead, "If you take me back home to fight against the people of Ammon, and the LORD delivers them to me, shall I be your head?"

Galaadeko arduradunek erantzun zioten: -Jauna testigu, zuk esan bezala egiten ez badugu.

Los ancianos de Galaad respondieron a Jeft?: -- Jehov? sea testigo entre nosotros si no hacemos como t? dices.

Les anciens de Galaad dirent ? Jephth?: Que l'?ternel nous entende, et qu'il juge, si nous ne faisons pas ce que tu dis.

And the elders of Gilead said to Jephthah, "The LORD will be a witness between us, if we do not do according to your words."

Orduan, Jefte Galaadeko arduradunekin joan eta herriak buruzagi eta gudalburu onartu zuen. Ondoren, Jeftek Mitzpako santutegian baietsi zuen hitzarmen hura.

Fue, pues, Jeft? con los ancianos de Galaad y el pueblo lo eligi? como su caudillo y jefe. En Mizpa, Jeft? repiti? todas sus palabras delante de Jehov?,

Et Jephth? partit avec les anciens de Galaad. Le peuple le mit ? sa t?te et l'?tablit comme chef, et Jephth? r?p?ta devant l'?ternel, ? Mitspa, toutes les paroles qu'il avait prononc?es.

Then Jephthah went with the elders of Gilead, and the people made him head and commander over them; and Jephthah spoke all his words before the LORD in Mizpah.
