Then the cows headed straight for the road to Beth Shemesh, [and] went along the highway, lowing as they went, and did not turn aside to the right hand or the left. And the lords of the Philistines went after them to the border of Beth Shemesh.

The Levites took down the ark of the LORD and the chest that [was] with it, in which [were] the articles of gold, and put [them] on the large stone. Then the men of Beth Shemesh offered burnt offerings and made sacrifices the same day to the LORD.

These [are] the golden tumors which the Philistines returned [as] a trespass offering to the LORD: one for Ashdod, one for Gaza, one for Ashkelon, one for Gath, one for Ekron;

and the golden rats, [according to] the number of all the cities of the Philistines [belonging] to the five lords, [both] fortified cities and country villages, even as far as the large [stone of] Abel on which they set the ark of the LORD, [which stone remains] to this day in the field of Joshua of Beth Shemesh.

Then He struck the men of Beth Shemesh, because they had looked into the ark of the LORD. He struck fifty thousand and seventy men of the people, and the people lamented because the LORD had struck the people with a great slaughter.

So they sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kirjath Jearim, saying, "The Philistines have brought back the ark of the LORD; come down [and] take it up with you."

So it was that the ark remained in Kirjath Jearim a long time; it was there twenty years. And all the house of Israel lamented after the LORD.

Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, "If you return to the LORD with all your hearts, [then] put away the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, and prepare your hearts for the LORD, and serve Him only; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines."

So they gathered together at Mizpah, drew water, and poured [it] out before the LORD. And they fasted that day, and said there, "We have sinned against the LORD." And Samuel judged the children of Israel at Mizpah.

Now when the Philistines heard that the children of Israel had gathered together at Mizpah, the lords of the Philistines went up against Israel. And when the children of Israel heard [of it,] they were afraid of the Philistines.

So the children of Israel said to Samuel, "Do not cease to cry out to the LORD our God for us, that He may save us from the hand of the Philistines."

Now as Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines drew near to battle against Israel. But the LORD thundered with a loud thunder upon the Philistines that day, and so confused them that they were overcome before Israel.

So the Philistines were subdued, and they did not come anymore into the territory of Israel. And the hand of the LORD was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.

Then the cities which the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron to Gath; and Israel recovered its territory from the hands of the Philistines. Also there was peace between Israel and the Amorites.

But the thing displeased Samuel when they said, "Give us a king to judge us." So Samuel prayed to the LORD.

Egiptotik atera nituenetik zapuztu egin naute, jainko arrotzak gurtzeko. Niri egin didatena bera egiten dizute orain zuri.

Conforme a todas las obras que han hecho desde el d?a que los saqu? de Egipto hasta hoy, dej?ndome a m? y sirviendo a dioses ajenos, as? hacen tambi?n contigo.

Ils agissent ? ton ?gard comme ils ont toujours agi depuis que je les ai fait monter d'?gypte jusqu'? ce jour; ils m'ont abandonn?, pour servir d'autres dieux.

"According to all the works which they have done since the day that I brought them up out of Egypt, even to this day -- with which they have forsaken Me and served other gods -- so they are doing to you also.

Onartzazu, beraz, haien eskaria; baina jakinarazi argi eta garbi, nolako eskubideak izanen dituen beraien gain aginduko duen erregeak".

Ahora, pues, oye su voz; pero hazles una advertencia solemne y mu?strales c?mo los tratar? el rey que reinar? sobre ellos".

?coute donc leur voix; mais donne-leur des avertissements, et fais-leur conna?tre le droit du roi qui r?gnera sur eux.

"Now therefore, heed their voice. However, you shall solemnly forewarn them, and show them the behavior of the king who will reign over them."

Adierazi zion, beraz, Samuelek errege eske ari zitzaion herriari Jaunak esandako guztia,

Samuel repiti? todas las palabras de Jehov? al pueblo que le hab?a pedido rey.

Samuel rapporta toutes les paroles de l'?ternel au peuple qui lui demandait un roi.

So Samuel told all the words of the LORD to the people who asked him for a king.

Dijo, pues: -- As? har? el rey que reine sobre vosotros: tomar? vuestros hijos y los destinar? a sus carros y a su gente de a caballo, para que corran delante de su carro.

Il dit: Voici quel sera le droit du roi qui r?gnera sur vous. Il prendra vos fils, et il les mettra sur ses chars et parmi ses cavaliers, afin qu'ils courent devant son char;

And he said, "This will be the behavior of the king who will reign over you: He will take your sons and appoint [them] for his own chariots and [to be] his horsemen, and [some] will run before his chariots.

Batzuk mila gizonen buru ipiniko ditu, beste batzuk berrogeita hamar gizonen buru. Batzuek erregearen alorrak goldatu beharko dituzte, beste batzuek uztak igitaitu; beste batzuek, berriz, armak eta gudu-gurdiak egin beharko dizkiote.

Los emplear? como jefes de millar y jefes de cincuentenas; los pondr? a que aren sus campos y sieguen sus mieses, y a que fabriquen sus armas de guerra y los pertrechos de sus carros.

il s'en fera des chefs de mille et des chefs de cinquante, et il les emploiera ? labourer ses terres, ? r?colter ses moissons, ? fabriquer ses armes de guerre et l'attirail de ses chars.

"He will appoint captains over his thousands and captains over his fifties, [will set some] to plow his ground and reap his harvest, and [some] to make his weapons of war and equipment for his chariots.

Alabak ere kenduko dizkizue, bere lurringile, sukaldari eta okin bihurtzeko.

Tomar? tambi?n a vuestras hijas para perfumistas, cocineras y amasadoras.

Il prendra vos filles, pour en faire des parfumeuses, des cuisini?res et des boulang?res.

"He will take your daughters [to be] perfumers, cooks, and bakers.

Lur-sailik, mahastirik eta olibadirik ederrenak kenduko dizkizue, bere zerbitzariei emateko.

Asimismo tomar? lo mejor de vuestras tierras, de vuestras vi?as y de vuestros olivares, para d?rselo a sus siervos.

Il prendra la meilleure partie de vos champs, de vos vignes et de vos oliviers, et la donnera ? ses serviteurs.

"And he will take the best of your fields, your vineyards, and your olive groves, and give [them] to his servants.

Uzta eta mahatsen hamarrenak hartuko dizkizue, bere funtzionario eta zerbitzariei emateko.

Diezmar? vuestro grano y vuestras vi?as, para d?rselo a sus oficiales y a sus siervos.

Il prendra la d?me du produit de vos semences et de vos vignes, et la donnera ? ses serviteurs.

"He will take a tenth of your grain and your vintage, and give it to his officers and servants.

Zeuen morroi-neskameak, zeuen gazterik bikainenak eta astorik hoberenak eramango dizkizue, beraren sailetan lan egin dezaten.

Tomar? vuestros siervos y vuestras siervas, vuestros mejores j?venes y vuestros asnos, para emplearlos en sus obras.

Il prendra vos serviteurs et vos servantes, vos meilleurs boeufs et vos ?nes, et s'en servira pour ses travaux.

"And he will take your male servants, your female servants, your finest young men, and your donkeys, and put [them] to his work.

Artaldeen hamarrenak hartuko dizkizue; zeuok ere bere morroi eginen zaituzte.

Diezmar? tambi?n vuestros reba?os y ser?is sus siervos.

Il prendra la d?me de vos troupeaux, et vous-m?mes serez ses esclaves.

"He will take a tenth of your sheep. And you will be his servants.

Egun hartan, oihu egingo duzue, hautatu duzuen erregea dela-eta; baina Jaunak ez dizue entzungo".

Aquel d?a os lamentar?is a causa del rey que habr?is elegido, pero entonces Jehov? no os responder?.

Et alors vous crierez contre votre roi que vous vous serez choisi, mais l'?ternel ne vous exaucera point.

"And you will cry out in that day because of your king whom you have chosen for yourselves, and the LORD will not hear you in that day."

Hala ere, herriak ez zion kasurik egin nahi izan Samueli, eta honela ihardetsi zion: "Utikan! Erregea behar dugu;

Pero el pueblo no quiso oir la voz de Samuel, y dijo: -- No. Habr? un rey sobre nosotros,

Le peuple refusa d'?couter la voix de Samuel. Non! dirent -ils, mais il y aura un roi sur nous,

Nevertheless the people refused to obey the voice of Samuel; and they said, "No, but we will have a king over us,

beste herri guztiak bezalakoak izan nahi dugu. Gida gaitzala erregeak, joan dadila gure aurretik gure alde borrokatzera".

y seremos tambi?n como todas las naciones. Nuestro rey nos gobernar?, saldr? delante de nosotros y har? nuestras guerras.

et nous aussi nous serons comme toutes les nations; notre roi nous jugera il marchera ? notre t?te et conduira nos guerres.

that we also may be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles."

Aditu zuen Samuelek herriak eskatzen zion guztia eta Jaunari adierazi zion.

Oy? Samuel todas las palabras del pueblo y las repiti? a o?dos de Jehov?.

Samuel, apr?s avoir entendu toutes les paroles du peuple, les redit aux oreilles de l'?ternel.

And Samuel heard all the words of the people, and he repeated them in the hearing of the LORD.

Jaunak erantzun zion Samueli: "Onar iezaiezu eskaria eta eman erregea". Orduan, Samuelek esan zien israeldarrei: "Zoazte nor bere herrira".

Pero Jehov? dijo a Samuel: -- Oye su voz y dales un rey. Entonces dijo Samuel a los varones de Israel: -- Volveos cada uno a vuestra ciudad.

Et l'?ternel dit ? Samuel: ?coute leur voix, et ?tablis un roi sur eux. Et Samuel dit aux hommes d'Isra?l: Allez -vous-en chacun dans sa ville.

So the LORD said to Samuel, "Heed their voice, and make them a king." And Samuel said to the men of Israel, "Every man go to his city."
