"Though they dig into hell, From there my hand shall take them; Though they climb up to heaven, From there I will bring them down;

He who builds His layers in the sky, And has founded His strata in the earth; Who calls for the waters of the sea, And pours them out on the face of the earth -- The LORD [is] His name.

"For surely I will command, And will sift the house of Israel among all nations, As [grain] is sifted in a sieve; Yet not the smallest grain shall fall to the ground.

" Behold, the days are coming," says the LORD, "When the plowman shall overtake the reaper, And the treader of grapes him who sows seed; The mountains shall drip with sweet wine, And all the hills shall flow [with it.]

I will bring back the captives of My people Israel; They shall build the waste cities and inhabit [them;] They shall plant vineyards and drink wine from them; They shall also make gardens and eat fruit from them.

I will plant them in their land, And no longer shall they be pulled up From the land I have given them," Says the LORD your God.

L'orgueil de ton coeur t'a ?gar?, Toi qui habites le creux des rochers, Qui t'assieds sur les hauteurs, Et qui dis en toi-m?me: Qui me pr?cipitera jusqu'? terre ?

The pride of your heart has deceived you, [You] who dwell in the clefts of the rock, Whose habitation is high; [You] who say in your heart, 'Who will bring me down to the ground?'

" If thieves had come to you, If robbers by night -- Oh, how you will be cut off! -- Would they not have stolen till they had enough? If grape-gatherers had come to you, Would they not have left [some] gleanings?

All the men in your confederacy Shall force you to the border; The men at peace with you Shall deceive you [and] prevail against you. [Those who eat] your bread shall lay a trap for you. No one is aware of it.

In the day that you stood on the other side -- In the day that strangers carried captive his forces, When foreigners entered his gates And cast lots for Jerusalem -- Even you [were] as one of them.

No debiste alegrarte del d?a de tu hermano, del d?a de su desgracia. No debiste alegrarte de los hijos de Jud? el d?a en que perecieron, ni debiste burlarte en el d?a de su angustia.

Ne repais pas ta vue du jour de ton fr?re, du jour de son malheur, Ne te r?jouis pas sur les enfants de Juda au jour de leur ruine, Et n'ouvre pas une grande bouche au jour de la d?tresse !

But you should not have gazed on the day of your brother In the day of his captivity; Nor should you have rejoiced over the children of Judah In the day of their destruction; Nor should you have spoken proudly In the day of distress.

Ez sartu nire herriko hiriburuan haren zoritxar-egunean! Ez gozatu, zu behintzat, haren atsekabeaz beraren zoritxar-egunean! Ez ezarri eskurik haren ondasunei beraren zoritxar-egunean!

No debiste haber entrado por la puerta de mi pueblo en el d?a de su quebrantamiento; no, no debiste alegrarte de su mal en el d?a de su quebranto, ni haber echado mano a sus bienes en el d?a de su calamidad.

N'entre pas dans les portes de mon peuple au jour de sa ruine, Ne repais pas ta vue de son malheur au jour de sa ruine, Et ne porte pas la main sur ses richesses au jour de sa ruine !

You should not have entered the gate of My people In the day of their calamity. Indeed, you should not have gazed on their affliction In the day of their calamity, Nor laid [hands] on their substance In the day of their calamity.

Ez egon zain irteeran, ihesi doazenak hiltzeko. Ez eman etsaiari bizirik geldituak estualdi-egunean!

Tampoco debiste haberte parado en las encrucijadas para matar a los que de ellos escapaban; ni debiste haber entregado a los que quedaban en el d?a de angustia.

You should not have stood at the crossroads To cut off those among them who escaped; Nor should you have delivered up those among them who remained In the day of distress.

" For the day of the LORD upon all the nations [is] near; As you have done, it shall be done to you; Your reprisal shall return upon your own head.

The house of Jacob shall be a fire, And the house of Joseph a flame; But the house of Esau [shall be] stubble; They shall kindle them and devour them, And no survivor shall [remain] of the house of Esau," For the LORD has spoken.

The South shall possess the mountains of Esau, And the Lowland shall possess Philistia. They shall possess the fields of Ephraim And the fields of Samaria. Benjamin [shall possess] Gilead.

Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the son of Amittai, saying,

"Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and cry out against it; for their wickedness has come up before Me."

But the LORD sent out a great wind on the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship was about to be broken up.

Then the mariners were afraid; and every man cried out to his god, and threw the cargo that [was] in the ship into the sea, to lighten the load. But Jonah had gone down into the lowest parts of the ship, had lain down, and was fast asleep.

So the captain came to him, and said to him, "What do you mean, sleeper? Arise, call on your God; perhaps your God will consider us, so that we may not perish."

And they said to one another, "Come, let us cast lots, that we may know for whose cause this trouble [has come] upon us." So they cast lots, and the lot fell on Jonah.

Alors ils lui dirent: Dis -nous qui nous attire ce malheur. Quelles sont tes affaires, et d'o? viens -tu? Quel est ton pays, et de quel peuple es-tu?

Then they said to him, "Please tell us! For whose cause [is] this trouble upon us? What is your occupation? And where do you come from? What is your country? And of what people are you?"

Jonasek erantzun zien: -Hebertarra naiz eta Jauna gurtzen dut, zeruko Jainkoa, itsasoa eta lehorra egin zituena.

?l les respondi?: -- Soy hebreo y temo a Jehov?, Dios de los cielos, que hizo el mar y la tierra.

Il leur r?pondit: Je suis H?breu, et je crains l'?ternel, le Dieu des cieux, qui a fait la mer et la terre.

So he said to them, "I [am] a Hebrew; and I fear the LORD, the God of heaven, who made the sea and the dry [land."]

Eta gertatuaren berri eman zien. Jaunarengandik ihesi zebilela jakitean, beldur-ikarak hartu zituen. -Zergatik egin duzu hori? -galdetu zioten-.

Aquellos hombres sintieron un gran temor y le dijeron: -- ?Por qu? has hecho esto? Pues ellos supieron que hu?a de la presencia de Jehov? por lo que ?l les hab?a contado.

Ces hommes eurent une grande frayeur, et ils lui dirent: Pourquoi as-tu fait cela? Car ces hommes savaient qu'il fuyait loin de la face de l'?ternel, parce qu'il le leur avait d?clar?.

Then the men were exceedingly afraid, and said to him, "Why have you done this?" For the men knew that he fled from the presence of the LORD, because he had told them.

Zer egin behar dizugu, itsasoa baretzeko? Izan ere, itsasoa gero eta haserreago baitzegoen.

Como el mar se embravec?a cada vez m?s, le preguntaron: -- ?Qu? haremos contigo para que el mar se nos aquiete?

Ils lui dirent: Que te ferons -nous, pour que la mer se calme envers nous? Car la mer ?tait de plus en plus orageuse.

Then they said to him, "What shall we do to you that the sea may be calm for us?" -- for the sea was growing more tempestuous.

Jonasek erantzun zien: -Hartu eta bota nazazue uretara eta baretuko da itsasoa. Jakin badakit-eta ekaitza nire erruz gertatu zaizuela.

?l les respondi?: -- Tomadme y echadme al mar, y el mar se os aquietar?, pues s? que por mi causa os ha sobrevenido esta gran tempestad.

Il leur r?pondit: Prenez -moi, et jetez -moi dans la mer, et la mer se calmera envers vous; car je sais que c'est moi qui attire sur vous cette grande temp?te.

And he said to them, "Pick me up and throw me into the sea; then the sea will become calm for you. For I know that this great tempest [is] because of me."
