Additional information

Gotzon Aldabaldetreku received the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in telecommunications engineering from the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU) in 2000 and 2006, respectively. He was awarded for the best academic record in the M.Sc. degree and received a European acknowledgement for the Ph.D. degree and a Special Award for the Best Thesis. Since 2002, he has been a university lecturer and is currently an Associate Professor (accredited for Full Professor in 2024).

He is member of the Applied Photonics Group. He was a thesis supervisor of 3 doctoral theses (one of them received an international acknowledgment). He carried out 2 stays at the University of Applied Sciences of Nuremberg (Germany). He has steered 5 research projects and has been involved in more than 40 research projects and 4 research agreements with companies.

He has written more than 30 research articles in renowned indexed journals and more than 80 contributions in conferences and has contributed to 3 international book chapters. He is a recipient of 3 Six-year terms on Research work from CNEAI. He has performed more than 40 reviews for renowned indexed journals. He has also authored 4 teaching books. He has been secretary and vice-chairman of the organizing committees of the 5ª Reunión Española de Optoelectrónica (2007) and the 20th International Conference on POFs (2011), respectively. He is engaged in research on fiber-optic sensors and their design.
