Courses offered for incoming students

Teaching Language

Most courses are taught in Spanish, although some are also offered in English. In the following sections, you will find a list of Bachelor's and Master's level courses available. Please note that the course titles indicate the language of instruction:

  • If the course title is listed only in Spanish, the course is taught solely in Spanish.
  • If the course title is listed only in English, the course is taught solely in English.
  • If the course title appears in both English and Spanish, the course is taught in both languages.

Please remember that a B2 level of proficiency in the language of instruction (either Spanish or English) is required for enrollment.

Also, please note that the course offerings may vary slightly from year to year. The lists currently published on this page correspond to the academic offerings for the 2025/26 academic year.

Course selection

We offer flexibility for incoming students to tailor their academic experience. You are welcome to choose courses across different degree programs—both Bachelor's and Master's levels—allowing you to build a curriculum that suits your academic interests and goals.

However, to ensure a smooth experience and avoid scheduling conflicts, we recommend selecting from our predefined course modules, if possible. These modules have been specifically designed to:

  • Align with the academic level of incoming students
  • Avoid timetable overlaps
  • Simplify the preparation of your Learning Agreement

If the predefined modules do not meet your academic needs, you are still free to choose individual courses from different degrees. Please be aware, though, that in such cases:

  • There is a high likelihood of schedule conflicts
  • You may need to make subsequent changes to your Learning Agreement after your arrival

We advise all students to carefully consider their course selection in advance and consult with their academic coordinator.

Tailor your Learning Agreement

At our school, we understand that each student has unique academic needs and interests. If the predefined courses do not fully align with your study goals, you have the flexibility to tailor your Learning Agreement by selecting courses from our wide range of offerings.

Below, you will find lists of courses available in English, English-Friendly courses (taught with some level of language support), and a complete selection of courses offered at both Bachelor's and Master's levels. This includes courses available in Spanish, which you may choose if you have proficiency in the language.

We encourage you to carefully review the course lists to ensure that your selection aligns with your academic objectives and your schedule. Please note, while flexibility is a key feature of our system, choosing courses outside of the predefined modules may result in timetable conflicts, which could require adjustments to your Learning Agreement later on.

Language courses for incoming students

The University of the Basque Country offers Spanish courses (beginner and advanced levels) and Basque courses (beginner level) for exchange students who wish to learn or improve their knowledge of one of our two official languages.

Language courses can be included in the Learning Agreement, and students can earn 6 ECTS credits for each course. Classes are held at our School during midday hours, so they typically do not overlap with other course schedules.

You can find all the information about the language courses at the following link.

Project work

Students who so wish may include in their Academic Agreement a research project to be carried out under the supervision of a professor from the School. The number of credits associated with this work is flexible. When establishing the workload to be carried out by the student, as well as the final mark associated with the work, the professor will take the following into account:

  •     Number of credits associated with the work in the Academic Agreement.
  •     Student's level of studies (Bachelor's or Master's degree and year)

The work may be carried out in Spanish or English. To apply for a project of this nature, you must send an email to incoming.eib@ehu.eus showing your interest. We will guide you in the following steps.

Bachelor´s Thesis & Master´s Thesis

Exchange students who are in their final year may complete their Bachelor’s Thesis (Trabajo Fin de Grado) or Master’s Thesis (Trabajo Fin de Máster) at our School, provided that they find a professor to supervise their work.

To apply to complete the Bachelor’s or Master’s Thesis, you must send an email to incoming.eib@ehu.eus expressing your interest, and we will inform you of the steps to follow. We can also assist you in the process of finding a supervisor for your thesis.

When carrying out the Bachelor’s or Master’s Thesis, the regulations to be followed, as well as the submission and defense deadlines, will be those established by our School:
