Mikel LarraƱaga received the Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU in 2012. He is currently a Senior Lecturer in the Computer Languages and Systems Department at the University of the Basque Country.



He is currently the coordinator of the Bachelor's Degree in Computer Management and Information Systems Engineering and lecturer in the Bachelor’s Degrees in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Electronics and Automation Engineering, Industrial Chemical Engineering and Automotive Engineering and the

Double Degrees Computer Engineering and Business Management and Administration, Mechanical Engineering and Business Management and Administration and Mechanical Engineering + Industrial Electronics and Automation Engineering. He also teaches in the Erasmus Mundus Master in Language and Communication Technologies and is a member of the PhD Programs in Computer Engineering and in Language Analysis and Processing.



He is a member of the GaLan research group (https://galan.ehu.eus), which in turn, is part of the Basque Government recognized research group ADIAN (https://adian.eus). Fundamentally, he has worked on aspects related to Educational Informatics, focusing on artificial intelligence, knowledge acquisition and learning analytics. Currently, his work is mainly focused on the development of scientific article recommender systems and learning analytics.
