Description and Contextualization of the SubjectToggle Navigation

The present subject offers the new student an introduction to the main psychological concepts, and processes both individual and group processes that take place in the work environment. The subject will start presenting the psychological theories and empirical evidence that have taken place within the discipline of Work Psychology. The subject will continue to cover the processes within the individual and the group, alongside the working conditions that have an effect on workers performance, placing a special interest on the behaviours and their underlying psychological processes.

CSPECIFIC COMPETENCIES (SUBJECT):



- To show and explain knowledge and understanding of the psychological concepts relevant to organizations.



- To show and explain knowledge and understanding of the main psychosocial theories and applied methods to organizations.



- To be able to identify the context and intervening factors for the individuals’ behaviour and their underlying psychological processes in the working environment.

- To be able of recognizing the main factors that could result on organizational maladjustment.



- To be able to acquire information from textbooks, to organize and show sufficient writing skills.



- To be able to use their communication skills in a variety of modalities: group discussion, debates and oral presentations.



LEARNING OURCOMES:

- Project 1: Development of a written essay, individually or in a small group, following the given academic guidelines.

- Project 2: Oral presentation in class, individually or in a small group, of the written essays.

- Project 3: Small group exercises in order to answer to psychological practical cases that generate conflict, through debate and discussion.

- Project 4: Final exam at the formally published date.

MethodologyToggle Navigation

1. Explanatory lectures to develop the theoretical knowledge of the content on this subject, via audiovisual media and information technologies, for the group as a whole.



2. Explanatory lectures and debates on practical applications of the theory, using audiovisual media and information technologies, for the group as a whole.



3. Collaborative work in small groups to carry out practical exercises in class.



4. Individual or small group mentoring in order to carry out a theoretical research and a written essay.



5. Final exam on the subjects studied throughout the quarter.

  • Tools and qualification percentages:
    • Written test to be taken (%): 60
    • Realization of Practical Work (exercises, cases or problems) (%): 20
    • Team projects (problem solving, project design)) (%): 20

Ordinary Call: Orientations and DisclaimerToggle Navigation

The criteria for the continuous assessment stand as above. The ordinary examination will take place through a final exam, at the officially stated date and place.



The withdrawal from the ordinary examination will occur in the absence of the student to the final exam. Additionally, students could submit their withdrawal from the examination through a written statement sent to the lecturer within the ten days period prior to the start of the official period of examination.



Extraordinary Call: Orientations and DisclaimerToggle Navigation

The extraordinary examination will take place through a final exam, at the officially stated date and place.
