Dr. Edurne Maiz is a Senior Lecturer (accredited as a professor) in the Faculty of Psychology at the UPV/EHU. Her field of research has focused on the Psychology of Eating, as her basic training has been in Psychology and Nutrition and Dietetics. In her doctoral thesis she studied food neophobia and its relationship with the nutritional status and psychological well-being of children. She also participated in the EFIGRO project, which analysed the impact of a multidisciplinary intervention in children at risk of diabetes and overweight. Subsequently, she worked in the R&D department of the Basque Culinary Center experimentally investigating the impact of participation in the feeding process on neophobic child feeding. She has been principal investigator of the MINECO project entitled ‘Effects of a mindfulness and acceptance group intervention programme on the physical and emotional well-being of overweight and obese people’ and in the Dastatuz research funded by the Basque Government. She has directed two doctoral theses and the third is already underway. Thus, the researcher's lines of research have combined Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) with Mindfulness and research based on eating behaviour. She is currently working on an intervention programme based on ACT and intuitive eating.
